about

Not really sure about this one. From the looks of the recording session, and by the conversations captured in the background, it appears as if the three of them were not really feeling it that day. Sounds like it was a sunny day and they were just feeling restless being stuck in the dark, damp basement. Probably not drunk or high enough either. But it happens... We all need to take a break sometimes.
I can even hear this in the playing itself. Besides the fact that they only ran through one complete take, each of them were un-confident of what they were contributing to the song as whole... the evidence being:
Stephen is on and off the microphone, scarcely singing, randomly without any concrete words he's settled on. Brave, on guitar, is playing a singular simple chord progression much unlike his usual self. Often being the first to speak up at the end of the take, saying "eh you guys like this???" which automatically means he doesn't feel what he's playing. Verne, as always, encourages the others to keep it up. However, this is probably his most undisciplined, underwhelming, and utterly undecisive drumming we will hear. He too is yet to settle on a singular simple pattern that fits the song. Unlike his usual self, too. This is probably due to it being uninteresting to him. He tries these completely unnecessary complexities that just keeps throwing him off. He seems as though he's trying too hard to keep pushing it forward, or rather, like he also just doesn't want to be there so is making it fun for himself.
Hearing this song years later, with all that being said, the average listener most likely cannot hear deeper into what is going on. In conclusion, it is undeniably obvious the amount of potential this one has. Only wish they had returned to it to finish it for real.
